Planet Farms, founded in 2018 in Milan, is a leading vertical farming company. We are on a mission to transform agriculture with state-of-the-art robotics and automation technology. We are creating the ultimate sustainable farming business and imagining a new future, where we can feed our communities fresh, nutritious and flavorful food that is good for our people and our Planet. Our products are already sold at scale in supermarkets in Europe. Today the company has 90 employees, with a production plant, R&D center and offices in Italy, Portugal, UK & Netherlands, and growing quickly.

We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our young ML team with no legacy codebase but plenty of data sources, including robot platforms and live production data. This is a chance to establish both infrastructure and model solutions from scratch, with the support of a multinational team of ML experts. We apply computer vision (deep learning) to automate tasks in the factories (related to growth and harvesting), automatically detect problems, and make production more efficient.

Responsibilities:
Building the MLOps infrastructure to deploy and monitor our machine learning systems.
Using deep learning algorithms to solve challenges in the factories, including training new models from scratch.
Owning ML solutions end-to-end, and shaping the requirements by interacting with biology/automation experts in the company.

Our expectations:
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
Proficiency in Python and the standard MLE stack: PyTorch, Docker, ClearML/MLFlow, Prefect/Airflow, standard DS stack: Jupyter, Numpy, Scikit-learn.
Experience developing ML/DL systems. Computer vision experience is a big plus. Experience taking models to production is a big plus.

Language skills:
Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken) to work in an international team.
Knowledge of Portuguese or Italian is a plus.
