Bioinformatics Project Chief in NGS Data Analysis (M/F) Lisboa Job Description: Major responsibilities: - Defining research strategies and capabilities (human, methodological, and technological) for developing research products in line with business strategy - Provide evidences of product’s validity and - Communicating with the scientific and customer communities concerning scientific and technical capabilities of developed products. - Monitor developing DNA and RNA based technologies and evaluate their potential applicability to business strategy. Main Tasks: - Collaborate with Global business development manager and with local business manager for developing the best strategies for product and/or service development towards the market; - Analyse clients feedback together with business to improve products / services and adjust; respective development strategy; - Propose new solutions and innovative developments based on recent technologies; - Represent in SGS decision procedures whenever R&D feedback is required; - Manage activities and budget, implement its R&D strategy, review documents and results; - Manage the team and give guidelines for projects’ development; - Elaborate and agree on projects’ definition and execution whenever needed; - Provide scientific and technical support to clients, including technology transfer and follow-up for product implementation; - Regular reporting about activities progress and perspectives; - Establish scientific partnerships with experts in the working áreas; - Collaborate on preparation of scientific publications and documents, as well as representing the company in scientific meetings and committees; - Manage DNA sequencing techniques including NGS (Ion Torrent®, Illumina®); - Manage methods of curation of taxonomic databases. Profile: - Knowledge of Programming: NET, Python / BioPython, Perl / BioPerl, R, SQL; - Mastery of bioinformatics tools: vsearch, Blast (and other NCBI tools); - Mastering of containerization tools (docker, singularity); - Mastering Linux and Windows environments; - Mastery of virtualization tools (oracle VM virtualization ..); - Mastery of software engineering best practices. - Organization and Quality approach; - Influences Internally and Externally; - Achieves business excellence; - Develops Self & Others.
