Corporate IT Software Engineer (Front-End)

We are looking to hire a Corporate IT Software Engineer (Front-End) for our Center of Excellence in Lisbon to take part in the application, from functionality design, development, integration to release packaging for the in-house developed customer system portfolio and other future add-ons. The role primarily interacts with the internal / external development peers, business analysts and quality assurance function from the same team as well as with other IT functions.

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the Data Systems product definition
- Develop software in JAVA / J2EE following Panalpina’s coding standards and in accordance with applicable software development methodology and release processes
- Utilizes software engineering tools such as developers environments, build processes and debuggers in the software development process
- Creates and executes designs for new functionalities as part of a software project
- Collaborates and adds value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions
- Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
- Performs technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems
- Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments on design aspects
- Responsible together with the development team members for the development planning, the progress and the quality of the delivery

Qualifications
- Java / J2EE (min. 2-3 years of experience)
- MVC frameworks (Struts 2 preferred, alternatively Spring or JSF)
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript (a must)
- AJAX, JQuery, other client-side frameworks (nice to have)
- Good knowledge of at least one RDBMS (IBM DB2 preferred)
- IBM WebSphere Application Server, HTTP server, JBoss, Tomcat (good knowledge of at least one)
- Working knowledge of at least one of ticketing and/or ALM systems (TFS preferred)
- Working knowledge of at least one of source code versioning systems (TFS preferred)
- Enterprise Integration Patterns, Messaging Oriented Middleware, Enterprise Service Bus (nice to have)
