Description

The role of the Engineer is to ensure the design and stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes architecting, planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will be responsible for verifying and validating the systems and solutions, as designed and built, will meet the needs of the business.

• Develop system and business architecture and select major infrastructure components;


• Analyze infrastructure components and confirm that designed or implemented systems and solutions will or can meet the business requirements;


• Translate business needs into specific, well written requirements to which systems and subsystems can be architected and designed;


• Understand project requirements and successfully represent the point of view of the business is properly monitored and met throughout the design, implementation and daily operation;


• Develop modeling processes and testing procedures to understand how the systems will operate to avoid business risk or potential impact caused by failures or outages;


• Proactive troubleshooting, looking for problems and arranging to prevent them;


• Documenting and scrutiny of internal and external interfaces to avoid incompatibility, security issues or sub-system to sub-system failures;


• Define, implement and manage all infrastructure hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs;


• Perform infrastructure design and capacity planning;


• Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery;


• Assist Infrastructure and Service Manager to Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure products and services;


• Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of infrastructure procurement and development efforts;


• Manage servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software;


• Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems;


• Recommend, schedule, and perform infrastructure improvements, upgrades, and repairs;


• Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team;


• Support Infrastructure Manager and Service Manager to reduce cost and overall time to deliver quality of service and customer care;


• Other duties may be assigned.

Profile

• Deep knowledge in architecting, planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links;


• 5 + Experience;


• Capable of providing 2nd/3rd line Systems support;


• Capable of end-end troubleshooting of both hardware and software systems;


• Excellent Client and inter-team communication skills;


• Ability to keep calm and perform to the highest standard under pressure.
